Virtual tuba
A real tuba recorded in a room, held notes from low F, about two and a half octaves below middle C, up to the D just above it. Every recording was measured and tuned to the exact pitch, so a bass line sits right under the band.
On a velocity-sensitive MIDI keyboard, a normal touch plays the full, round held note and a hard hit switches to the tuba played loud. The letter keys start low, where a tuba lives, and the arrow keys move them within its range.
